Owl on the Fence Mitts.

I know its been a reallllllly long time, with my nieces 1st birthday, Christmas, Valentines AND me and my boyfriends joint birthday I have been a tad busy. All though he is not my boyfriend any more...... HE PROPOSED! (hehe did I make you think something else?)
Any ways, here's the pattern for my Owl on the Fence Mittens. Enjoy!

Yarn:
DK weight yarn (approximately 200 yards)

Gauge:
6 stitches and 9 rows = 1 inch

Needles:
US #3 (3.25 mm) - two circular needles
(Or 3 double-pointed needles)

Abbreviations:
K = knit
P = purl
M = make one
K2tog = knit two together

General pattern:
Cast on 48 sts - 24 sts on needle #1 and 24 on needle #2. K1,(P2, K2 across to last stitch), K1.
Continue ribbing for 14 rows.

Work 2 rows even.

Start owl chart by knitting 6 stitches, do owl chart row, knit 6 stitches.

WHILE AT THE SAME TIME START THUMB GUSSET

Thumb gusset:
Row 1: Rep pattern across all sts on needle #1. On needle #2, K1, M1, K2, M1, knit across.
50 stitches total (2 thumb stitches)

Row 2 & 3: Work two rows even on both needles continuing in pattern across needle #1.

Row 4: Rep pattern across all sts on needle #1. On needle #2, K1, M1, K4, M1, knit across.
52 stitches total (4 thumb stitches)

Row 5 & 6: Rep Rows 2 & 3
54 stitches total (6 thumb stitches)

Continue increasing in same manner for the thumb gusset on every 3rd row until there are 18 sts for the thumb (or 9 sets of 2 increses = also equals 27 rows). Put thumb sts on waste yarn. When knitting next row, cast on 2 sts (backwards loop method) for a total of 24 sts on needle 2 (48 sts total).

Work the rest of the hand to desired length.

Hand Decreases:
Row 1: K2tog across - 24 sts (12 on needle #1, 12 on needle #2).

Row 2: Knit one row even.

Row 3: K2tog across - 12 sts (6 on needle #1, 6 on needle #2).

Row 4: Knit one row even.

Row 5: K2tog across - 6 sts (3 on needle #1, 3 on needle #2).

Pull yarn through remaining 6 stitches.

Finishing Thumb:
Remove waste yarn and divide stitches onto two circular needles, 9 sts on each. Start knitting in the round and pick up 2 sts from the edge of the hand where you CO 2 sts. Total Thumb stitches = 20.

Work in the round until you are ready to decrease.

Row 1: K2tog across both needles (10 sts total).

Row 2: Knit one row even.

Row 3: K2tog across both needles (5 sts total).

Pull yarn through remaining 5 stitches.

The gusset instructions above work the right mitten. When you want to work the left one, just move the increases to the end of needle 2, rather than at the beginning. Work the front exactly the same for both.

Fetish and Yarn.... an odd combo?

Well I've started a stall at the local fetish market. The novelty is..... I've knitted and crocheted everything I sell, and for some reason my giant winkie shaped draft excluder which was a good 3 ft long and several inches wide was very popular.
I wanted to do scarves, hats etc with the BDSM emblem on as winter is a commin and could not find a pattern on the whole internet. So for your delight, I designed one with my own lill hands.
The chart on the right is upside down for a reason too, I've not gone tat mad yet.....
It's upside down because when you come to do the second end of a scarf or making a hat top down.... it means you don't have to turn your head upside down to look at it :D
ENJOY!

I NEED ZZZZZZ's

I have come to the conclusion mice are harder than kids.
My Abyssinian Poppy decided to have her babies 4 days early, not a lot you night think but in people terms its two and a half months early.
Not just that....she then decided she didn't like them. Chucking them outta the nest and slamming them up her tanks glass. Somehow I think she should be a bachelorette.
So after being awake for about 42 hours and feeding them every two with the smallest straw I could find, a friend came to the rescue and was able to successfully foster them onto two of her mice. All 6 are doing well!
BRING ON THE Z'S!

Abyssinian Meece on the go.

Righto folks, I paired up two of my Abyssinian meeces Thursday, a few tiffs but nothing out of the ordinary. Heres a pic of Poppy and Manuel just in case you don't know what an Abby mouse looks like :D

Oh and I also get bored when left alone so I do things like this (the two v's stand for Vincent Valentine).

Tis bean a while

The suns been shining, I'm better from my cold...... so it's an allotment day! Ok so I was only nipping down to see how things were as tomorrow I'll be fixing the green house with Rob hopeully. And well....things were pants.

Something is secretly naffing all my strawberries, beans are not looking happy, and the cucumber plants are pretty....dead.
On a lighter note....
I have new meeces! I have two fuzzy hairless, a cream and white called Nibble Munch, and a blue tan called Gypsy Belle. PLUS .... my very first show mice! They are a trio of black selfs. Two girls called Willow and Mynx, and a handsome young man called Sargent Woody D'Teabag or just Woody for short. Welcome to the clan guys :D (I'll add a pic of Woody laters ).

Todays Plan.....

Ok so todays plan of action was....
1) Clean out mice
2) Buy buttons for the cardigan I'm making for my niece Felicity aka Flickipoo.
3) Go forth to allotment see if theres strawberries I can munch on, weed and plant out cucumbers as they are already fruiting and currently still reside on my windowsill.
What actually has happened so far......
1) Found a pile of dog sick (thanks Dumpty)
2) William escaped and took two hours to catch from about 7:30 this morning.

William is one of the nicest mice you could ever meet, and out of my 25ish meece he is a favorite, however he is a little s**t for escaping, it was only two days ago it happened last time.
And just in case he wanders of again and happens to go for miles, heres what he looks like:

And just so she doesn't feel left out here's Dumpty: ( And yes she has tissue stuck to her lip, she's odd like that).
